Nobody really likes a cold.

The annoying infection of the upper respiratory tract is often accompanied by symptoms that make it difficult to distinguish it from mild flu or other diseases. The nose runs, the head is heavy, the constant sneezing robs you of your last nerve. A real herb, on the other hand, has not grown, it only helps to be gentle and patient.

And whiskey, if you believe the opinion of a doctor.

Dr. William Schaffner, head of the preventive medicine department at the Vanderbilt University Hospital in Tennessee, USA, knows that a well-stored drop of an oak barrel can alleviate the symptoms.

"Whisky has no effect on the virus itself, but the effect on the body can provide some relief from the symptoms. Alcohol slightly dilates the blood vessels, allowing the mucous membranes to cope better with the infection."
Hot Toddy Recipe for Cold & Flu Season (Home Remedy)
The classic recipe for a drink that helps adults (!) is the so-called "Hot Toddy", a kind of whiskey grog: you'll find a recipe below in the video. Mix two or four cl whiskey with a few teaspoons of honey, add some lemon juice and about 200 ml boiling water. The whole thing can be enhanced with spices such as ginger, garlic or cinnamon, as these all have anti-inflammatory effects.

It is important to be moderate and not to drink alcohol all the time in case of illness - the body must remain hydrated, i.e. drink plenty of water and healthy teas, such as chamomile tea.

Or as Dr. Schaffner puts it:

"We would expressly advise against tipping thirty bottles of beer down one's throat in order to arm oneself against influenza".

The season pass will get you "four campaign DLC packs."

Borderlands 3 won't launch on Steam, but everything else about it is typical for a big budget PC game release, which means that of course there are four increasingly pricey editions to chose from.

The standard version will be $60, and just includes the game, though pre-ordering any edition gets you "gold weapon skins" and a "weapon trinket," which is presumably a trinket one puts on a weapon.

In the middle of the pack, the $80 Deluxe Edition and the $100 Super Deluxe Edition include a bunch of in-game cosmetics as well as XP and loot boosts. Here's what you get in both of them:

hdmi arc explained works care port

If you’re the owner of a newer HDTV, A/V receiver, sound bar, or home theater in a box (HTIB), you may have noticed (then promptly forgotten) a little symbol on one of the device’s HDMI inputs that says “ARC.” What does this mean? Hint: it has nothing to do with the reactor that powers Ironman’s suits.
ARC stands for Audio Return Channel, which is a little-understood protocol that started showing up on HDMI-equipped devices a few years back. Today, it is increasingly common. The technology is especially useful and has the potential to significantly simplify home entertainment systems. Unfortunately, few know it even exists, much less what it can do. Here, we’ll go over the basics of ARC so you can put its mythical powers to work for you.
But first, a quick refresher on HDMI itself (feel free to skip ahead if you just need to know how ARC works).
Earlier this week EA and Ghost Games confirmed the next title in the Need for Speed franchise will be released later in 2017, so we thought we’d round up all the details we know about so far
8 Things We Know So Far About The Next Need For Speed Game - Gaming
Despite announcing in a recent blog post that a new Need for Speed game is hitting our consoles this year, EA and Ghost Games have largely been keeping things quiet. However, after picking apart the announcement and related materials while adding in a dash of speculation and some rumours, here’s what we’ve been able to glean thus far:

1. It’s coming this year

8 Things We Know So Far About The Next Need For Speed Game - Gaming
EA and Ghost Games have confirmed that a new game in the Need for Speed franchise will be hitting consoles by the end of 2017 and shared a few initial details on the up-coming release
We’ll Have A New Need For Speed Game By The End Of This Year - Gaming

A new Need for Speed game is in development and will arrive by the end of the year, EA and Ghost Games officially announced in a blog post.

They’re keeping information on the up-coming release close to their chests, but have revealed a few details on the new game before we hear more at EA Play in June.

Of course, the last game in the NFS series was the reboot back in 2015. Both EA and Ghost Games are building on that foundation and have taken into account the fan feedback from it too.

The biggest detail to come from the announcement is the fact that offline mode will return – the constantly-online element of the previous game was a major drawback. Now, there’ll be the option for gamers to play offline and single-player, with the ability to pause the action and not have to put up with being constantly online.

Ghost also emphasised that customisation will “play as strong a role as ever” in the new NFS, while police chases will be a feature too.

The announcement also said players will have the freedom to drive around an open world with “the space in which to do the things you want”, and also hinted at off-road driving.

So, we’ll have a new Need for Speed game this year and we’ll get more information next month. Are you excited? Let us know in the comments!

razer-blade-pro-late-2016-01.jpgThe updated Razer Blade Pro keeps the same body as the late 2016 version, seen here.

It's not the highly buzzed about triple-screen Project Valerie, but there is a new Razer gaming laptop coming soon. Razer's flagship 17-inch gaming laptop is getting a handful of 2017 upgrades. Most notable among them is a move to new seventh-gen Intel Core i7 processors; specifically the one used here is an overclocked Core i7-7820HK. The 32GB of RAM gets a small speed boost, from 2,133MHz to 2,667MHz.
Razer is also claiming this is the world's first THX-certified laptop, which means it gets a stamp of approval from the audio/video standards company. Founded in 1983 by "Star Wars" creator George Lucas, THX has been owned since 2016 by Razer, so it's no surprise that the two brands are collaborating.
To become THX certified, which means it meets THX standards for excellent audio and video quality, Razer says, "the Razer Blade Pro screen is calibrated and tested for resolution, color accuracy and video playback performance ... [and] the audio jack on the new Razer Blade Pro met THX requirements for voltage output, frequency response, distortion, signal-to- noise ratio, and crosstalk that guarantees clear sound through headphones."
razer-blade-pro-late-2016-06.jpgThe Blade Pro is the slimmest laptop with an Nvidia 1080 graphics card.
Razer tells me the current Razer Blade Pro panel hardware is unchanged from the previous model, and met the THX standards, while there have been some physical changes to the audio output hardware.
Like the previous Blade Pro, the 4K, 17-inch display support Nvidia's G-Sync technology for less screen-tearing and runs the same Nvidia GeForce 1080 graphics card. You also get the same low-profile mechanical keyboard and extremely customizable backlit keyboard. And yes, the touchpad is still off to the side, which is one of the most unusual things about this very thin gaming laptop.
The new 2017 version of the Razer Blade Pro will be available in April, starting at $3,999 in the US and £3,799 in the UK. Australia isn't on the initial launch list, but that UK price works out to roughly AU$6,250.
Last April we reported over on comicbook that Xbox France had created a custom Xbox One design based on Tony Stark's briefcase Iron Man suit that is seen in Iron Man 2. It was a gorgeous, glowing, custom console that could only be won, so it's likely that none of you reading this actually have one yourself.
That's not how this story should end, and thankfully, it doesn't have to. If you're truly determined to have a Stark Industries Xbox One, Eddie Zarick of EdsJunk has put together a tutorial video showing how you can build your own Stark Industries Xbox One. When it's all done, you'll have the same sleek design with a glowing core. Even the center button in your Xbox One controller is getting an overhaul. Check out the video right here:
A little while ago we got to try out a preview build of the new Forza Horizon 3, it’s a pretty addictive game and takes the franchise to a whole new level. Here’s why!

The map in Forza Horizon 3 is, quite simply, huge. It’s twice as big as the previous instalment of the Horizon series and features a range of different areas, some of which I didn’t even get to explore during the preview session – there was just too much!

It’s easy to get immersed in the game with such a big map and it means there’s always a new place to find and explore, which should keep the game feeling fresh for longer. If you want to take a break from racing, it’s fun to just take a drive around and see what you find.
The arcade-style basketball is fun, and sure to spark some competition.
On Thursday, Facebook released an update to its iOS Messenger app. Normally such updates are accompanied with a change log that reads to the effect of "various bug fixes." It's never clear what's new -- if anything -- when Facebook updates its apps. The Android app was updated on Wednesday.
Only this time Facebook offered some advice in the change log: "Shoot Some Hoops: Want to see what's hiding behind the basketball emoji in Messenger? Just send one and tap to find out!"
Following the directions will result in Messenger launching an arcade-style basketball game, where you flick a basketball towards a hoop. As you continue to make or miss baskets, fun emojis and Facebook stickers cheer you on.

What if you could buy a new type of gaming console that had the guts of a PC, a pre-established library of 1,000 games, a tried-and-true interface already beloved by hard-core gamers and an innovative new controller, and have it all cost less than $500?
That's the elevator pitch for the Steam Machine, a new gaming platform from Valve, the PC gaming company behind the popular Steam online game store for Windows and Mac, as well as hit game series such as Portal, Left 4 Dead and Half-Life.
The Steam Machine concept has been gestating for some time, going all the way back to late 2013. The first piece of prototype hardware we saw was an Alienware set-top box, coupled with a previous design of its innovative included gamepad, the
The Legendary Comic-Con presentation featured footage from Duncan Jone's Warcraft movie, but we won't get to see any of it until November. A shame, but Legendary is trying to make up for it with this interactive video which provides a look at Azeroth!

Are you excited to play as Batgirl in the Arkham Knight Universe? She should would look slick on a Batman Limited Edition Playstation 4, which could be yours through our contest above!

The universe of the Batman: Arkham series isolates the Dark Knight, but somehow expands his world at the same time. It keeps him in a tight (but ever-growing) area, first within Arkham Asylum proper, then with Arkham City' isolated boundaries of the larger dark urban sprawl, and now, through Gotham City as a whole. But through the ballooning cast, the games show how Batman affects his world, and how he becomes a necessary part of it.
